Members from The Sustainability Consortium (TSC) are in the process of approving seven Product Category Life Cycle Assessments (PCLCAs) across three of The Consortium’s Sectors:

Home & Personal Care:
Laundry Detergents, Showering Products, Surface Cleaners

Food,Beverage & Agriculture:
Strawberry Yogurt, Wheat Cereal, Orange Juice (not-from-concentrate)

Electronics:
Laptops

This event is a major milestone on TSC’s path toward developing the Sustainability Measurement and Reporting System (SMRS), a global framework for standardizing the measurement and communication of product sustainability. The seven prototype PCLCAs, representing many different products sold in retail stores, were developed over the past year by TSC’s sectors and product committees, and are expected to be on their way out for independent technical review, the next stage in the prototype development process. The seven prototypes have served as a learning tool to define and improve the process along the way. The lessons learned from these prototypes will pave the way for future product categories. The process stages for all seven prototypes are scheduled to be completed by December 2011.
