Mission & Goals
Retailers play an important role in driving sustainability initiatives in consumer goods supply chains. Because of their place at the end of the supply chain and their direct engagement with consumers, retailers are uniquely positioned to lead in applying standards of measurement and reporting and provide guidance on the use of the resulting information. The Retail Sector is made to understand consumers’ perspectives, and is on the forefront of transforming consumer communication and marketing.
Scope
Coming together in the spring of 2011, the Retail Sector is made up of some of the largest companies in the world. The group collaborates with other Consortium Sectors to explore ways to improve business-to-business communications, education, and decision making across the supply chain.
Research
The Retail Sector is working with other sectors in developing the Level 1 SMRS process and is actively exploring ways to use that information to improve decision making in the supply chain. This includes developing credible, easy to understand decision tools that can be used in B2B communications, simplified reporting environments, training and education materials for business decision makers as well as consumers and other stakeholders, and leading innovation workshops.
